Vladimir Issaev, Choreographer and Ballet Master proudly presents this third DVD of the Vaganova Ballet Academy, featuring a Pas de Deux Class at the prestigious Vaganova Ballet Academy of Saint Petersburg Russia.
The class is conducted by legendary danseur noble Konstantin Zaklinsky, born in 1955 in Petersburg and a graduate from the St. Petersburg’s Vaganova Ballet Academy, in 1974.
He immediately joined the Kirov Ballet, where he was promoted to principal in 1980. An outstanding danseur noble, he excelled as Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, Prince Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty and Solor in La Bayadère, although he also displayed a real flair for comedy, as revealed in the role of the slave-trader in Le Corsaire. In 1983 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of RSESR. In 1988, Zaklinsky partnered Natalya Makarova on her historic appearance in London dancing the white pas de deux from Swan Lake. He now serves as faculty member of the Vaganova Ballet Academy. He is married to the fomer Kirov Ballerina and now Artistic Director of the VBA, Mme. Altynai Asylmuratova. This graduating class is performed in the classroom where Agrippina Vaganova taught and Marius Petipa created his most magnificent ballets.
Vladimir Issaev, Artistic Director of Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida has been given the exclusive license by the Vaganova Ballet Academy to reproduce and distribute this DVD. |
