Remember to write the child's name inside the costume and all accessories, and keep each accessory/hair piece in a plastic bag, with the child's name. Make sure any straps or fixtures are done before the performance. Keep your costume in a safe place on its hanger. During photo-day, many parents realized how important it is to have their children with their hair in a perfect bun, with clean tights and new ballet shoes. Please, if you did not come for pictures make sure that your child will have everything she/he needs to look like everybody else on stage. Also, make sure that you have the right shoes for the right dance. Remember: IMPORTANT: non shiny PINK tights COVERING THE ENTIRE FOOT !

Fundraiser for our trip to Germany
Spaghetti Dinner and Raffle! We thank everyone involved in our fundraisers to our tour to Germany. These fundraisers helped everyone to cover the high costs of the ticket planes and the costumes and other expenses related to this tour. The Spaghetti Dinner was fun and delicious.
The dancers offered a variety of dance styles from Ballet to Modern, Tap and Jazz/Broadway that entertained our guests, to follow with great food provided by Mama Jennies Restaurant and salads and deserts made by some of our parents. The lucky winner of the trip to Bahamas with Hotel included is Ms. Francine Rozencwaig. Thank you all for your support and congratulations to all.

SUMMER CAMP JUNE 9 TO JULY 3
This is a unique time for students to concentrate and continue with their progress during the part of the summer when there are no pressures from school and other activities.
This Summer Program is especially designed with different characteristics. Some classes are for students who need to develop skills, strength, clean up defects or difficulties, and get ready for the serious training they will get during the academic year. Other classes are meant to be an introduction to ballet, tap, and jazz through a very special training method for the younger students.
The Summer Camp is for children 5 to 10 years of age. Mon.-Fri. 9a-4p. The students will be trained in ballet, jazz, and tap. They will also stretch classes, Arts and Crafts, Flied trips and they will be working on a performance to present to their parents at the end of the camp. All of the performance will be set up by the students. They’ll work on their costumes, scenery, program, etc. There are fieldtrips to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, the Art Museum, and other places related to the arts. Only ONE session of four weeks each of fun and arts!
The summer Camp - Mondays through Fridays 9 am to 4 pm. - Outdoor activities, Field trips and End of camp performance. Make your reservations now ! Space limited to 14 children only per week !
Musical Kinder and Pre Ballet workshops are available once a week (afternoon classes) and on Saturdays from 9 am to 12:30 pm
About the Fall BALLET CLASSES will begin August 18, 2008.Please, make a note of it !
As we are having many requests of prospective new students, we strongly suggest you pre-register your child. Registration for our regular students begins MAY 1st.
HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR RECITAL
- Hair should be in a bun at top, back of head (unless otherwise specified) very well secured with hairpins and lots of hair spray. Please apply little make-up for dancer. We will add or delete at the theatre if necessary.
- There will be no food or drinks allowed in the theatre or dressing rooms.
- DRESS REHEARSAL IS MANDITORY FOR EVERYONE! This is the only opportunity the children will have to get used to the stage.
- NO CHILD MAY BE PICKED UP BEFORE THE RECITAL IS OVER!!! Why?
- SECURITY REASONS. We have other parents like you as volunteers taking care of the children while they are in the dressing rooms, THEY DON’T KNOW IF YOU’RE THE RIGHT PARENT.
- SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY AND TEAMWORK. Participating in a school performance is part of the child’s' goal more than the parents'. Taking them out early will make them feel that they do not belong to their team. Our dance school promotes teamwork.
THEATRE REHEARSAL
JUNE 4- NO COSTUMES!! Students should wear THEIR REGULAR UNIFORM – NOT THEIR COSTUME, with hair secured firmly in a bun, bringing dance shoes to change at theatre. Rehearsal Schedule will be sent again one week in advance as a reminder PLEASE BE PUNCTUAL AND READY TO DANCE !
DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT SHOULD BE IN A DANCER’S BAG ?

Your ballet uniform is not intended to be worn as street clothes. If you are sweaty you might catch a cold or maybe wet the car seat.
REMINDER FOR COSTUMES
- WRITE THE CHILDS’ NAME INSIDE THE COSTUME
- PLEASE DO NOT LET THE CHILDREN PLAY WITH THE COSTUME, THESE COSTUMES SHOULD BE WORN ONLY FOR PERFORMANCE DAY.
- COSTUME SHOULD NOT BE IRONED. Many of the materials used on these costumes will be damaged by an iron.
Following these guidelines, everyone will look great !!!
THANK YOU FOR COMING TO THE OPEN CLASSES - HERE ARE SOME REMINDERS OF WHAT WE SAID DURING OPEN CLASSES
- Students will be getting their progress report at the end of May. Students are constantly evaluated. Some are not ready to take the responsibilities of a higher level. For that reason some of the students will remain in their actual level. If the teachers suggest you to keep your child in this particular level is because they really know what your child is able to handle. Remember that not only they need to be physically ready, but also mature enough to go into a higher level. It is not a matter of age. Our goal is to teach them first the love for Ballet
- Teachers were very specific in demonstrating the technique and the goals achieved. Sometimes the goals are not to learn specific ballet steps but to develop coordination and control of their body.
- Part of the training is:
- To arrive on time. The students feel very intimidated when they are dropped in when the class has already started. For the little ones is very uncomfortable and is not good for their self-esteem. For the more advanced groups: Ballet I and up, it is very dangerous to jump into the class without warming up properly. Many injuries of the dancers come from the lack of slow warm up before working on extensions and jumps. Those students coming in 5 to 10 minutes late will be not allowed to take the class. They can stay and watch.
- To have the right ballet attire. The little ones are very self-conscious of how they look. Especially when they look at themselves in the mirror and they notice she/he is dressed differently form the rest of the group. The hair must be pulled back in a bun and no jewelry is allowed. For Pre Ballet and up, part of learning then importance of discipline is looking uniformed. When we see a big company, the corps is always dressed equally and therefore they look so beautifully as an ensemble.
- Tights must be pulled down. Ballet shoes strings must be tucked in. Teachers waste a huge amount of time trying to get everyone ready for the class. Loose hair, jewelry, tights pulled up and shoe strings out are a very distracting issue to the child when looking at themselves in the mirro.
- RECITAL: We reminded everyone the following: The recital will be 2 ½ hour long the most. If you have engagements for after the recital, please be aware that it might take longer to pick up your child. Probably you will have to wait about 20 to 45 minutes before you get your child back. But you will get her/him safe! We are asking our audience to show courtesy and good manners. Should you need to leave the hall, please, get up during the applause in between dances. You might be blocking the view to the parents of the children that are performing at that very moment. Please, do not have conversations during the show as it is discourteous to the audience seating near you. Wait patiently in line to pick up your child, no pushing. You want to avoid injuring a pregnant mother. Do not use cells, video of photo cameras.
