September Newsletter

Dear Parents,

We are very pleased to have begun our classes regardless of bad weather threats. All classes are running smoothly and all students are working really hard already. That is excellent !

We wanted to let you know that you will be receiving emails from  aventuradanceac@aol.com regarding the school activities, meetings, and special notifications. You will also receive invitations to performances by our ballet company Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida from abtflorida@aol.com. We ask you to please add these two emails on your contact list to make sure you receive these notifications.

We welcome back our Director Vladimir Issaev, who recently attended the II International  Ballet Competition in Lima, Peru, where he was invited as member of the panel of judges and also guest Ballet Master for Ballet Nacional de Peru where he taught Master classes for the company, ballet teachers and advanced ballet student.

New Classes

We have added new classes which may be interesting to you or you child.

Tap lessons for children: to improve coordination, sense of rhythm and concentration. There are different schedules for different levels.

Tap lessons for the Adults*: Ms. Patricia and her students have a blast every Wednesday night dancing to the Broadway style at the beginning level for adults. Classes meet every Wednesday at 7 pm

Jazz/Hip Hop with instructor Moraima Serra: who is a great teacher with a lot of expertise, promises to offer fun classes for children 6 to 10 years of age, Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Flamenco for young children 5 to 7 yr of age: Every Wednesday at 4:00 pm at the North Miami Location, with instructor Solange Villacorta. Besides being a company member, Solange is a graduate in Spanish dances and worked during the summer camp with our students who performed a cute “Spanish rumba” at the end of the program.

Flamenco for adults*: Every Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 am, with instructor Esther Pardo, form Murcia, Spain. Aventura Location

Pilates Mat Class*: Improve core control, coordination, standing alignment and balance with Pilates mat exercises. Emphasis is on precise alignment, breathing and efficient sequencing of movement: Thursdays at 9:00 am at the Aventura Location.

Salsa lessons*: For fun, rhythm and socializing opportunities while learning the New York style! Tuesdays at 7 pm at the North Miami Location.

The toddlers class ( 2 to 3yrs of age): On Saturday mornings at the North Miami location with Ms. Melanie Cruz. A fun way to introduce your child to dance, feeling the rhythm & music while stimulating their natural abilities for movement.

(*) Private lessons in any of these disciplines are also available.

News about the youngest ones!

Our new ballet dancers of Musical Kinder 1 & 2 are doing great ! The 3 to 5 yrs old are learning ballet steps and rhythm/coordination routines. Mommies, be patient ! You will get to see them in class very soon. We just need a little bit of time, while they get adjusted to the class, the routine and learn to focus without any distraction during class.

Make a note of this:
THE SCHOOL WILL BE OPEN DURING THE ENTIRE MONTHS OF
SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER – NO HOLIDAYS !!!

We want to thank all the parents who are dropping off and picking up the children for classes. If some parents must stay please, while in the reception area: keep your voices down. Our receptionists find it very difficult to speak over the phone or to give instructions and/or information to new parents who visit for the first time. If bringing siblings, and for unavoidable reasons you must stay in the reception area, please be sure to keep them quiet and seated. And please, stay at the reception area. The area close to the studios is exclusively for dancers. They need space to stretch and warm up before going into class.
Do not forget the use of cellular phones is absolutely forbidden in any area of the school. Phone conversations are and must be private!

Maybe this is news to some of you but we want to remind you that Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida is the only professional ballet company in the area of North Dade that performs a classical and neo-classical repertoire for the enjoyment of our community. Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida is home based at our studios where the dancers rehearse in the mornings 9:30 to 1 pm and in the evenings 7:00 to 10 pm. You are cordially invited to visit and take a look at the rehearsals in Aventura.

Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida as non profit organization depends on the support of public grants from Miami Dade and Broward Counties and The State of Florida.
For this coming season, the funds have been cut a 35%. Our productions, dancers are suffering the burden of these cuts. We need the gracious support of audiences and private donors like you, so we can give these dancers a job opportunity and at the same time accomplish educational programs free to public schools of the area and offer high quality performances to our local community.
There are fundraising opportunities that are coming up to help the company continue offering educational and performing opportunities.

If you are interested in supporting Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida please make your gift contacting Mr. Vladimir directly. You can see the dancers’ resumes and their history by logging into the website www.artsballettheatre.org

Also, sales of ballet shoes, tights, leotards go directly to the ballet company. But this is not enough.

We have other fundraisers going on:

KEEP IN MIND

As explained in our School Policies (which you received upon registration), it is necessary to collect the Performance Fees with October tuition. This fee helps us cover major costs that are incurred for the theatre rental, insurance, technical staff, etc. The fee is $50.00 per student.  This will be non-refundable after December 1, 2008.

VERY IMPORTANT

If you have not paid for tuition by the 10th of this month an automatic chare will be made to your credit card. Please, make sure that you have everything in order.

SOME IMPORTANT RULES …Not to be forgotten !

Dance shoes are NEVER to be worn outside and that name should be marked on them in case they are left in the studio. Children should come with regular shoes on and bring ballet shoes in a bag. Our youngest students do many exercises on the floor and we don’t want them to get dirty or get any germs on their little hands.
Also, if you have outgrown shoes, please bring them in, as they are handy for students who have forgotten or lost theirs.

Every student is expected to behave while in the facility in a disciplined and responsible manner, with respect to the instructor and fellow students.  The School reserves the right to suspend or dismiss any student whose conduct, attendance or attitude is found to be unsatisfactory.

Parents are urged to have their children on time for class: at least five minutes prior to scheduled class.  It is disturbing to the entire class when another student arrives late.  Also, to prevent injuries, the first 15-20 minutes of class are designed to warm-up the muscles slowly.  Students 10 minutes late will only be allowed to observe the class.   Please cooperate in enforcing this!  It is an essential part of the discipline of ballet and will save all of us the inconvenience of make-up classes.

Parents are not allowed beyond the reception area. Please, be kind to follow the rules and do not get upset with our personnel if they remind you of these rules. We are trying to offer your children the best discipline required for ballet.

There will be no holidays observed during the months of September and October. There will be no refunds or adjustments on missed classes unless the school is informed prior to the absence due to extended illness or injury.  Medical documentation may be required in order to waive tuition.  A credit for the unused portion of the tuition will be given from the time of injury or illness being reported.

PARKING ! Remember that we have only six spaces available for you to park. You may block someone if you are just dropping off or picking up. If you are planning to stay longer, please, try to park in the designated areas without disturbing the businesses next to us. Also, do not park along 189th Terrace as it is a two way street and by suggestion of the Miami Dade Department of Transportation, we warn you that you might get a ticket if you black the way.

Nutcracker Auditions while working on Firebird !

This month is a very busy one as we began our rehearsals of Firebird and we are going to have our Nutcracker auditions. Children 6 years of age are welcome to audition. We also need parents to get involved ! We are looking for Daddies and Mommies to join the cast of the Party Scene in the Nutcracker.
