Faculty and Staff

Melanie Cruz, trained by M. Mayora, M. Parmeggiani and Vladimir Issaev, Melanie has participated in Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida’s Summer Ballet Seminars since 1998, with Alla Osipenko, Irina Lebedeva and Tatiana Terekhova. She was also granted a scholarship to the Summer Program at Joffrey Ballet. As a member of Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, she has danced the entire repertoire of the company including: the Nutcracker as the Dew Drop Fairy and Spanish soloist: Carmen, Suite of Waltzes, Spartacus, Paquita, Shostakovich, Ballet Concierto, Taiko Women. Melanie Cruz also serves as Ballet Mistress for Rehearsals with Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida. Ms. Melanie has been working as a teacher since 2001.
   
Ms. Luana Hidalgo a native of Maracaibo, Venezuela. She has been a member of Ballet de Maracaibo, Ballet Nuevo Mundo de Caracas, Cleveland Ballet, and San Jose Ballet. She has performed classic repertoires from Petipa to Fokine and Balanchine as well as modern works including Vicente Nebrada, Alvin Ailey, among many others. She also starred in the Venezuela ballet film "Unas son de amor". She began teaching at the Cleveland San Jose Ballet School and she also taught at Nevada Ballet Theater and at Ballet San Jose. Not only Luana Hidalgo has dedicated her teaching career specializing as a Ballet teacher for the very young students, but also as a teacher for the adult student. In 1995 she was awarded "Best Classical Ballerina" in Venezuela and she received the honor of the "City of Avignon" in France.
   
Teresa Padron, born in Venezuela and formerly principal dancer of Ballet Nacional de Caracas, where she danced from 1985 until 1997. Her ballet master for her the last 10 years in the company was Maestro Vladimir Issaev. Among her most distinguished performances are The International Dance Festival of Montpellier in France, The Autumn Festival in Spain the Inter-American Arts Festival in Puerto Rico , the International Festival La Habana , Cuba, and the Aspen Festival in the US. Her repertoire includes Romeo & Juliet, Cinderella, Swan Lake, Serenade, Apollo, and Allegro Brillante. In 1996 and 1997 she was nominated as “Best Classical Ballerina” of Venezuela “Premio Casa del Artista”. In 1999, Teresa studied Methodology of Ballet Teaching at the Ballet –Art School in Venezuela. Most recently Ms. Teresa has upgraded her teaching skills by attending the Teachers Workshop of Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, under the direction of Vladimir Issaev.
   
Jelena Radojevic, born in Yugoslavia, Novi Sad, where she began her classical ballet training at the age of six at The Ballet School of Novi Sad along with Josip Slavenski Music School. She has studied with Ukrainian ballet pedagogues Vladimir Suvalov, Robert Klavin and Oksana Storozuk. After her graduation, she was accepted at The National Ballet Theater in Novi Sad as corps de ballet and soloist in classical and neo-classical performances, “Paquita”, “Giselle”, “Carmina Burana”, and “Ballet Inspiration”. Her desire to learn modern dance brought her to the New World School of the Arts, in Miami, where she performed works by Gerald Ebitz, Michael Uthoff, Jose Limon, and worked with ballet pedagogues Tina Santos, and Bambi Anderson. During her education she has attended many ballet competitions and seminars in Europe and in the United States. In June 2006 she received a Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Florida. She enjoys teaching classical ballet and choreographing for young dancers.
   

Roberto Rodriguez. Born in Hawaii, Roberto Rodriguez began his dance training at Ballets de San Juan in Puerto Rico. He also studied at the School of America Ballet in New York. Mr. Rodriguez has been teaching ballet, theater, pantomime, folkloric dance and creative movement for 22 year. Mr. Rodriguez performed lead roles in many ballets including Swan Lake, Coppelia, Don Quixote, Cinderella, Nutcracker, Giselle, Firebird, Sleeping Beauty and Les Sylphides. In addition he has performed with Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico and Pittsburg Ballet, among others. For 16 years, Mr. Rodriguez directed Taller de Varones, a boy's ballet workshop, dedicated to the development of classical male dancers in Puerto Rico. Taller de Varones alumni are currently excelling in the dance world internationally including in London, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in Canada, School of American Ballet, the University of Virginia and at American Ballet Theater. Mr. Rodriguez holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Theater Education from the University of Puerto Rico. Currently, he is certified dance teacher for the Miami-Dade County School Board.

   
Anna Ochoa was born in Ecuador in 1980. She began her ballet studies at the Inge Bruckman School of Ballet, Teatro Centro de Arte in her hometown of Guayaquil, Ecuador. She also trains in Cuba at the Ballet Academy of Camaguey, in Chile with Teatro Municipal and in Argentina with Julio Bocca School of Ballet. During her training and her professional career she always danced soloist and principal roles which include La Fille Mal Gardee, The Nutcracker, Romeo & Juliet, Diana and Acteon, Le Corsaire among many others. Before relocating to Miami, Anna danced professionally at Ballet Teatro Centro De Arte in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Anna dances professionally with Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida as a soloist.
   
Rafaela Dulato (Musical Kinder / Jazz& Tap) She started dancing at the age of 10. She has attended the Imperial Classical Ballet Seminar in the summer of 2001 and 2003. She has performed different roles in the Nutcracker which include “The Doll” and the “Chinese”. She has participated in every production of Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida including the tour to Denmark and Poland. Rafaela is pursuing her career as a Dance Teacher by attending FIU since 2006.
   

Paola Escobar (Flamenco) born in Bogotá, Colombia and was trained at the Academia de Ballet "Ana Pavlova", and later at the Real Conservatorio de Ballet Clásico in Madrid Spain. She trained in Spanish Dance and Flamenco in Spain, Colombia and Cuba. Her training has also included "Afro-contemporánea and contemporary dance. Paola Escobar has performed internationally at many Theatres, festivals and community venues. Ms. Escobar was Director, dancer, and choreographer for Compañía Taconearte in 2002- 2005.Ms Escobar has won numerous awards. Currently she is a member of Ballet Flamenco LaRosa.
